Myth #1 :
Traditional karate has been proven in-effectice against modern mixed martial-arts (MMA) and grappling styles like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
TRUTH: |
A well trained and parcticed karate -ka (student) can posses the ability to defend against and defeat attackers, even if they are larger and stronger.
Many judge how good a style is based on how well a practitioner of that style performs in the ring. The fallacy of this thinking is in the assumption that the individual's skills represent the effectiveness of that style. |
For example: On a given day, a boxer may win a match against a wrestler. This does not mean boxing is always better than wrestling. It just means, in that match, that boxer out performed that wrestler . It is a matter of which individual is more well practice in their discipline.
